The Colby College Museum of Art will host Whistler: Nature and Nation a two-day symposium presented by the Lunder Consortium for Whistler Studies on October 14 and 15. The symposium brings together leading scholars on Whistler and American art to discuss the ways in which Whistler reimagined the world around him as he traversed the international art worlds of the nineteenth century.
As a member of the Lunder Consortium for Whistler Studies, the Colby College Museum of Art is a leading center for the study of Whistler’s life and art. Whistler and the World, an exhibition celebrating the Lunder Collection of James McNeill Whistler, is currently on view. The symposium is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
