Rackstraw Downes | Summer Luncheon 2018

The Colby Museum presented artist Rackstraw Downes with the 2018 Cummings Award for Artistic Excellence. Jeremy Dutcher | Summer Luncheon 2019

Jeremy Dutcher, a Wolastoqiyik performer, composer, activist, and musicologist from the Tobique First Nation reserve in New Brunswick, Canada, performed at the Colby College Museum of Art’s 2019 Summer Luncheon, celebrating the opening of Wíwənikan…the beauty we carry, an exhibition of contemporary art of the First Nations people of what is now Maine and Maritime Canada. Dutcher’s brother, Shane Perley Dutcher, was one of dozens of Wabanaki artists whose work was featured in the exhibition. This is Honor Song, performed on July 20, 2019, at Given Auditorium, Bixler Art and Music Center, Colby College.
