Rediscoveries 2: New Perspectives on the Permanent Collection
February 14, 2012 - June 24, 2012
Lower Jette Galleries
Curated by William D. Adams
Please note that Rediscoveries 2 will close temporarily from April 30 through May 21 and will re-open May 22 through June 24.
The exhibition series Rediscoveries invites members from the Colby College community to select and arrange artwork from the permanent collection. In the second installment, President William D. Adams offers a meditation on the blighted urban landscape. Focusing on spaces associated with labor, the exhibition takes as its centerpiece a group of newly acquired photographs by Andrew Moore. Through these and other works depicting factories, gas stations, landfills, deserted alleys and houses, and classrooms, viewers discover the powerful and unexpected beauty that often resides in such places.
