What do lasagna pans, the Children’s song “Ring-around-the-Rosie,” and the Disney film Aristocats have in common? How can we use images of aging and stories of coming-of-age to think about queerness?
Join us for a night of exploring queerness in art at the Colby Museum’s Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery in the Schupf Art Center with Kendall DeBoer, Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and Mirken Coordinator of Campus Collaborations Jillian Impastato. Participants will engage in facilitated discussions in the exhibition Alive & Kicking: Fantastic Installations by Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt, Catalina Schliebener Muñoz, and Gladys Nilsson before continuing the conversation and sharing a meal. This event is free and open to all. Please register here.
The Art Queeries series brings together local and campus communities to explore queerness in art through conversations facilitated by museum staff and special guests followed by a free community meal.
