Art in the Park: Rope Walk with Susie Brandt

Thursday, July 18, 2024,

Castonguay Square, Corner of Front and Main Streets, Waterville

Join us for a unique opportunity to transform discarded clothing into stunning works of art! Collaborate with fabric artist Susie Brandt, whose masterpieces are currently showcased at the Speedwell Gallery in Portland. Together with your friends and family, we’ll repurpose worn-out garments into vibrant yarn, breathing new life into forgotten textiles. Bring those old clothes tucked away for rags or overlooked for donation, and let’s ignite our creative spirits as a community. Join us in crafting art that celebrates sustainability and community connection!

Read aloud book: We Are the Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom (Author), Michaela Goade (Illustrator)

This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain or extreme heat, Art in the Park will be held indoors at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center.

What is Art in the Park?

Waterville Creates, Waterville Public Library, and the Colby College Museum of Art have joined forces to offer dynamic, creative summer programming to provide arts experiences for all. Each Thursday participants at Art in the Park can listen as a book is read aloud and create art work based on that book or community theme.

Art in the Park is sponsored by Kennebec Savings Bank, City of Waterville, the Morning Sentinel/ Kennebec Journal, Allen Insurance, Colby Center for Arts and Humanities.
