Paul J. Schupf Art Center

Join the Colby Museum and other community partners in Waterville for our annual Arts in Bloom celebration. Explore your creativity with free programs scheduled throughout the weekend of May 5–7. This seasonal event is the perfect way to welcome spring with friends and family.

The Colby College Museum of Art will have activities at two locations—the Paul J. Schupf Art Center in downtown Waterville and the Colby College Museum of Art on the Colby College campus.

Friday, May 5

4–6 pm: Colby College Museum of Art’s Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery, Paul J. Schupf Art Center, 93 Main Street

Join us at the Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art for our Flowers, Flowers, and More Flowers! activity.

Begin your art journey with a LOOK at the many works of art featuring flowers in the exhibition, Ashley Bryan/Paula Wilson: Take the World into Your Arms. Then, CREATE your own work of art, inspired by one of three different floral arrangements made by Robin’s Nest, using colored pencils, watercolors, markers, oil pastels, and/or collage materials at one of our makers’ stations.

Saturday, May 6

11 am–7 pm: Paul J. Schupf Art Center, 93 Main Street

Visit the museum’s Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center to pick up seed packets, ready for planting in the spring and summer months.

1–3 pm: Colby College Museum of Art, 5600 Mayflower Hill Drive

Saturday Art Adventures: Art + Cart is a monthly program led by a museum intern for children of all ages and their caregivers. The Art + Cart activity focuses on a work of art on view at the museum and has special hands-on activities related to that work. All materials will be provided.

There will be many more activities happening around town during Arts in Bloom Weekend, including celebrations for new Waterville StoryWalk® trails. For a complete list of activities, visit the Waterville Creates website.
