Art in the Park is back! Once again, the Colby College Museum of Art joins forces with Waterville Creates and the Waterville Public Library to offer a summer of dynamic, creative programming featuring hands-on arts experiences for all.
Join us each Thursday at Head of Falls, downtown Waterville’s outdoor gathering space adjacent to the historic Kennebec River, to enjoy a read-aloud picture book and create your own artwork based on the book or weekly theme. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. Special guests will include practicing artists, local musicians, and area teachers!
This week, gather with us to paint your own mini painting. Based on the illustrations in Sophie Blackall’s book, Hello, Lighthouse, we will explore her gorgeous coastal color palette of sea greens, ocean blues, whites, and reds. All painting styles and abilities are welcome at this family-friendly paint-party.
This week’s book is Hello, Lighthouse, by Sophie Blackall.
This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled or canceled.
