Art in the Park is back! Once again, the Colby College Museum of Art joins forces with Waterville Creates and the Waterville Public Library to offer a summer of dynamic, creative programming featuring hands-on arts experiences for all.
Join us each Thursday at Head of Falls, downtown Waterville’s outdoor gathering space, adjacent to the historic Kennebec River, to enjoy a read-aloud picture book and create your own artwork based on the book or weekly theme. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. Special guests will include practicing artists, local musicians, and area teachers!
This week, pay homage to your favorite sea creature by creating a colorful tissue paper sun catcher. This art-making technique mimics the beautiful, light catching, qualities of stained glass. A joyful art form for all ages, your creation will be the perfect way to brighten your favorite space.
This week’s book is Swashby and the Sea, by Beth Ferry.
This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled or canceled.
