Head of Falls, Downtown Waterville

Art in the Park is back! Once again, the Colby College Museum of Art joins forces with Waterville Creates and the Waterville Public Library to offer a summer of dynamic, creative programming featuring hands-on arts experiences for all.

Join us each Thursday at Head of Falls, downtown Waterville’s outdoor gathering space, adjacent to the historic Kennebec River, to enjoy a read-aloud picture book and create your own artwork based on the book or weekly theme. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. Special guests will include practicing artists, local musicians, and area teachers!

This week, explore animation with the magic of flip books. In celebration of the Maine International Film Festival, learn the classic technique of creating a flip book—combining hand-drawn art and the science of optical illusion. This delightful activity is fun for all ages.

This week’s book is Lights! Camera! Alice, by Mara Rockliff.

This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled or canceled.
