Art in the Park is back! Once again, the Colby College Museum of Art joins forces with Waterville Creates and the Waterville Public Library to offer a summer of dynamic, creative programming featuring hands-on arts experiences for all.
Join us each Thursday at Head of Falls, downtown Waterville’s outdoor gathering space, adjacent to the historic Kennebec River, to enjoy a read-aloud picture book and create your own artwork based on the book or weekly theme. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. Special guests will include practicing artists, local musicians, and area teachers!
This week, create hand-printed flags, posters, and story totems through stamping, relief printing, and collage with artists Elizabeth Jabar and Colleen Kinsella from Future Mothers artist collective, as a part of the Waterville Creates Common Threads project.
This week’s book is Maybe Something Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood, by Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell.
This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled or canceled.
