Art in the Park is back! Once again, the Colby College Museum of Art joins forces with Waterville Creates and the Waterville Public Library to offer a summer of dynamic, creative programming featuring hands-on arts experiences for all. Join us each Thursday at Head of Falls, downtown Waterville’s outdoor gathering space, adjacent to the historic Kennebec River, to enjoy a read-aloud picture book and create your own artwork based on the book or weekly theme. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. Special guests will include practicing artists, local musicians, and area teachers!
This week, make two art projects with seeds. Learn to make paper that blooms, inspired by Ticonic Gallery’s Exhibition, The Farm Tools Project. This eco-friendly paper is made with plants and wildflower seeds. Planting instructions will be included. In addition, make a mosaic with seeds, beans, and grains. In the spirit of recycling, each seed mosaic will use seeds that are older and no longer viable to plant. Special thanks to Fedco Seeds of Clinton, Maine.
This week’s book is Before We Eat, From Farm to Table, by Pat Brisson.
This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled or canceled.
