Art in the Park is back! Once again, the Colby College Museum of Art joins forces with Waterville Creates and the Waterville Public Library to offer a summer of dynamic, creative programming featuring hands-on arts experiences for all.
Join us each Thursday at Head of Falls, downtown Waterville’s outdoor gathering space, adjacent to the historic Kennebec River, to enjoy a read-aloud picture book and create your own artwork based on the book or weekly theme. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. Special guests will include practicing artists, local musicians, and area teachers!
This week, enjoy a fun photography activity for all ages and be part of the Colby Museum’s Picturing Our Community engagement project, which is inspired by the exhibition, Act of Sight: The Tsiaras Family Photography Collection. We’ll have instant cameras, printers, and art materials that can be used to decorate frames and share stories of the friends, family, and things you notice in your community.
This week’s book is Take a Picture of Me, James Van Der Zee!, by Andrea J. Loney.
This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled or canceled.
