Colby students are invited to become part of the new cohort of Student Guides (formerly Student Docents) at the Colby College Museum of Art. To learn more about this opportunity, attend an information session on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the Museum’s Mirken Education Center.
The first semester is a paid 10-week training program during which students prepare to research and learn about works of art in the Museum and use that information to create educational experiences in the galleries for campus and community audiences during the academic year. Some of the programs CCMA Student Guides will facilitate include hands-on activities at the museum’s Art + Cart, developing gallery and studio programs for homeschool audiences, and presenting pop-up spotlight tours about objects on display in the Museum.
This opportunity is open to second semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors and meets the civic engagement requirement for students living at Alfond Commons.
Applications are available at the Museum Welcome Desk or online here, and will be accepted through Friday, February 14.
Questions can be directed to Kris Bergquist, Mirken Curator of Education and Engagement, [email protected].
