In collaboration with Maine Craft Weekend, the Colby College Museum of Art will provide additional tours and activities related to the Wíwənikan…the beauty we carry exhibition featuring contemporary art by basketmakers, canoe makers, carvers, painters, and beadworkers of the First Nations people of what is now Maine and Maritime Canada. These events are part of a Museum initiative, Wíwənikan…the beauty we carry: a week of film, programs, demonstrations, and talks, which takes place from Oct. 5–11 at the Museum and various locations on campus and in the community.
1–2 pm: Public guided tour led by Theresa Secord; a Penobscot artist in, and curatorial advisor to, Wíwənikan…the beauty we carry.
2–3 pm: Sunday Spotlight Tour, led by a Colby College Museum of Art docent, featuring works from Wíwənikan … the beauty we carry and the Museum’s permanent collection.
