SLICE (Students Learning Innovative Creative Endeavors) is a five week pilot program to encourage students ages 13–19 to explore the behind-the-scenes operations at an historic opera house, an award-winning public library, a nationally recognized art museum, and an independent arthouse at the Railroad Square Cinema. Partnering with arts professionals throughout the city, this program will provide young adults with unique experiences to learn more about career paths in the creative arts. Each afternoon will be packed with interesting programming, inspiration, and pizza! Free but registration is required.
WEEK ONE:
May 14 – Picture Perfect: Portraits and Pizza at the Colby College Museum of Art
What does a portrait look like? What clues do they give away about the participant? How does portraiture interact with the viewer? All of these questions and more will be addressed in this exciting tour or self-discovery through the Zanele Muholi: Somnyama Ngonyama, Hail the Dark Lioness exhibition and the Museum’s portraiture collection. Join us for art, pizza, and your very own personal portrait.
