Professor Ott is the author of Manufacturing the Modern Patron in Victorian California: Cultural Philanthropy, Industrial Capital, and Social Authority (2014) and has published essays on art auctions, combat artists, comic books, and motoring magazines. He is currently writing a book on the visual culture of racial integration in the United States, 1931-1954. This lecture is part of Colby’s 2015-2016 humanities theme, Human/Nature
